Our paper reviewing methods for accessing and using ENCODE data is now available from Trends in Genetics and was featured on the cover! This review provides a practical guide to the ENCODE Project’s maps of regulatory DNA, transcription factor binding, chromatin state, and transcription. It explains how these resources can be used to interpret genome function while carefully distinguishing biochemical activity from demonstrated biological function.
