Biography
Background
Lara earned a B.S. with distinction and honors in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Michigan, with a minor in Applied Statistics. Her prior research examined chromatin remodeling in Arabidopsis thaliana and used Mendelian randomization to study metabolic traits linked to Alzheimer’s disease. In the Boyle Lab, she is developing Cas9-targeted nanopore sequencing methods to enrich and characterize nuclear mitochondrial DNA segments (NUMTs).
